Quite often a magazine or book has to be created out of PDF files.
The Flash Magazine component doesn't convert PDF to .jpg or any other graphical format. Therefore we offer a simple solution to help you insert PDF files into your online magazines and books. For more information see How to turn your PDF into a Flipping Magazine or Book QUICKLY?
Tip: If you create a large amount of pages it is a good idea to use the copy button to clone some of them.Feel free to browse the support forum. And if you have more questions – get a reply from our technicians.
PLUGINS
The component comes in a package with 2 plugins: a content plugin and xtd-button plugin. Once installed and published the content plugin will allow you to insert flipping books and magazines directly into the content articles. For example tag {flashmagazine id=[mag_id] link=[link]} will be replaced by a link to flash magazine. You can as well insert magazines directly without linking to them (click the image to enlarge):
Even more, with xtd-button plugin you won't need to look for the item's id and place tags. What you'll need to do is just click the Flash Magazine button in the bottom editor menu and select a book or magazine from the ones available on your site, and indicate whether you want to place a link to it (if yes, then what text) or put it directly into content. Don't forget to publish the plugin after installation.

F.A.Q.
Unfortunately, it’s impossible to create a universal script that works on all kind of servers. It’s not possible to do all necessary actions only with facilities of one component.
"MultiUpload" tool has been developed. This option allows you to create a magazine from package with images. You should create new magazine with required settings. In fact new magazine could be created very fast and easy.
But you have to use some free or paid soft for converting PDF to Images.
It’s really easy to use, e.g., we tested tool 123PDF to Image (http://www.freepdftoimage.com/) for Windows.
The steps are as follows:
- 1) download 123PDF or any other soft that allows you to convert;
- 2) convert PDF file to images;
- 3) upload to any folder of your site (relative to Joomla root directory) or create a package of images (please note that your server should allow to upload files of big size in case you use the package method);
- 4) create a magazine and choose the required settings;
- 5) create the pages using "MultiUpload" feature.
At first create new category for Magazine. Choose 'JoomlaFlashMagazine->Categories' menu item, press 'New' button, input category name and description (optional). Press 'Save' button. After that choose 'JoomlaFlashMagazine->Magazines' menu item. Next press 'New' button to create new magazine and do the following:
- Enter title, author and description for future magazine
- Choose category
- Choose language file, choose template and resolution for future magazine
- Enable/disable print button
- Enable/disable PDF button
- Select PDF file for magazine
- Enable/disable magazines sound
- Select background sound for magazine
- Select flipping sound for magazine
- Enable/disable front page
- Select author image (shown when front page available)
- Enter author e-mail (shown when front page available)
- Enter author biography (shown when front page available)
- Select magazine logotype
You can upload sound files with mp3 and wav extensions and image files with jpg, gif and png extensions. Also you can upload swf files for pages.
Firstly, uninstall your version of the component. All data will be kept in your database. Then install new version of the component. This will upgrade your database structure, if necessary, and all your data will be correctly moved to the new version.
Go to 'Profiles Management->Templates' (there select the template, which you use in the magazine you want to change). There's the option "Background color", enter the code of necessary color in the blank field or simply click the button near the empty field, select one you'd like, click on it. Save the template details (click "Save" or "Apply" button).
"Elements color" is the color of all service buttons on front-end.
"Additional color" is the color of template head, which is used in the template "Butterfly".
To change the language, modify file en-GB.com_flashmagazinedeluxe.ini in folder Language/en-GB/.
