TOPIC: [SOLVED] Template CSS overrides Comp Chart CSS

[SOLVED] Template CSS overrides Comp Chart CSS 1 year, 5 months ago #13267

I want to give my charts a different styling, but it seems that the template's CSS overrides the custom CSS-settings in Comparison Chart. It's mainly the .moduletableheader style I ant to change.

How can I get Comparison Chart's settings to take effect without changing the template's CSS?

Hello Christoffer,

It's not clear what do you speak about. Perhaps, you meant 'sectiontableheader'.

demo.joomplace.com/components/com_compar...hart/css/default.css

In any case, you could edit the files there:

"components/com_comparisonchart/css/default.css"

or

"/components/com_comparisonchart/css/custom.css"

It depends on the selected template.

If you have more questions, you're welcome to ask.

Thank you for your reply - and please forgive my mix-up of sectionheader and componentheader. As you seem to have gathered, I ment the latter.

Thanks also for your advise, but what I wanted clarfification for was why changes made in the built-in "change color" function don't override default/template color settings.

Can't it be used, i.e. must color modifications be made in the style sheets?

Please provide the link to your site, it'll be easier to understand then. Thank you.

Re:Template CSS overrides Comparison Chart CSS 1 year, 5 months ago #13406

I seem to have gotten confused regarding the terminology. It is the sectionheader background and nothing else I am trying to change with the popup color settings in Coparison Charts' template manager (see attachment). More specifically, it's the first setting there, called "Header background color" that won't take effect and override the Joomla template setting.
Isn't it supposed to do that?

The url to my site is [url=http://www.webblabbet.se/index.php?option=com_comparisonchart&view=charts&Itemid=219[/url].

Thanks, I really appreciate your effort.

These settings are applied only if you use 'Custom template'.

Have you configured your chart with the 'Custom template'?

Re:Template CSS overrides Comparison Chart CSS 1 year, 5 months ago #13414

Yes, I have. "Custom" is the only option available, as the other template alternatives are not editable.

It should be the following way (as it is now):
a person can edit the styles only in "Custom template", the other templates are not editable.

But you could edit them, e.g. using FTP.

Re:Template CSS overrides Comparison Chart CSS 1 year, 5 months ago #13429

Thanks for your reply, although I don't quite follow what you are getting at.

I understand that it is only the custom template option that is supposed to be editable throught the built-in "Change color" interface. The thing is, however, that I AMediting the custom template - but it doesn't work doing it with the "Change Color" interface!!!

And I presume that it should. Shouldn't it? To me it seems like a bug which I would like a cure for. Considering that I have paid for your extension, I think it should work.

The ftp option is fine and well, but I wan't the convenience of the built in editor.

Please advise and please don't come back with another self-explanatory answer.

So the changes aren't saved. It's very likelihood there's no permissions to record CSS file on the component FE. If you change the record permissions and this problem still exists, please send the temporary admin access to www.joomplace.com/helpdesk/index.php !together with this thread's link.

Regards

Thanks for your reply. Please clarify what "FE" is referring to and what permissions must be set to.

Thanks!

Re:Template CSS overrides Comparison Chart CSS 1 year, 5 months ago #13439

Duh! I get it: FE = Front End right? Don't bother with that then. All permissions are set to 644 (files) and 755 (directories). That should work shouldn't it?

Yes, you're absolutely right.

The permissions are set correct, but the thing is that's important who is owner of the folders and who (what user) could work with server php. If there're different owners, it's possible to use FTP layer in Joomla.

Re:Template CSS overrides Comparison Chart CSS 1 year, 5 months ago #13442

I am in a hosted environment, but the ownership for all files are set to my account user. The ftp layer is on.
