TOPIC: Google Chrome potential incompatibility

Google Chrome potential incompatibility 3 years, 5 months ago #9331

I downloaded the much heralded Google Chrome browser today. I found that my home page does not configure correctly using this browser. All other pages look fine.

My home page is the only page to use joomla Drag and Drop.

I reported the misconfiguration to Google but I am wondering if this is a lack of browser compatibility with your component on your end.

I would expect the Google Chrome browser to spread like wildfire so I am wondering what your plans are to make your Drag&Drop products Google Chrome compatible?

My website is http://ibikeride.com

Many thanks

Daniel

Hi Daniel!
It wasn't tested there, that's why issues might arise.
That's not a top used browser, that's why we can not test all of them.

So far only you reported to use it..so it's hard to say that we'll make the compatibility right away.
We'll need to see how many reports we get if any and if it really spreads like you expect it to.

Kind regards!

Was there ever any work done to check Google Chrome compatibility? It is now one of the big three browsers in use but when installing D&D on my new site under Joomla 1.7 I found that the table (id="drndr") data rows (id="gw_1", id="gw_2", etc...) do not contain any code under Chrome (13.0.782.220) resulting in the modules not being displayed. Meanwhile under IE (8.0.6) or Firefox (6.0.2) everything displays as expected. I have attached screen shot of the three browsers and the code difference.
Is this likely to be addressed at anytime soon?

Hello David,

Google Chrome is likely to cut out code if the slicing of a module is not valid while Firefox and Internet Explorer disregard this and add, say, closing tags automatically.

Kindly visit our site for Drag&Drop demo and open it in Google Chrome.

Check the slicing of modules inserted into our component and fix the slicing related errors, if any.

Okay the demo version on your site works fine.

I don't understand what you mean by 'slicing' of a module could you elaborate so I can fix this for my site?

Hello David,

Sorry for a bit confusing explanation.

I suggested comparing the HTML-slicing of the modules inserted into the component on our demo site and the ones on your website. This will allow finding out HTML bugs on your website and fixing them.

If something still remains unclear, you are welcome to contact us for more detail.
