TOPIC: Updating issue from CB to SMF

Updating issue from CB to SMF 2 years, 11 months ago #10665

After synching the systems with no apparent problems I made some corrections in CB then updated. I got the following message:

smf User Update: Error while creating the user: DB function
failed with error number 1054
Unknown column 'memberName' in 'field list' SQL=INSERT INTO
`smf_members`
(
`memberName`,`realName`,`emailAddress`,`passwd`,`passwordSalt`,
`posts`,`dateRegistered`,`is_activated`,`validation_code`,
`personalText`,`pm_email_notify`,`ID_THEME`,`ID_GROUP`,
`ID_POST_GROUP` ) VALUES
( 'xxxxx','xxxxxxxx xxxxxxx','xxxxxxxxx@shaw.ca',
'19a7f64b8e93adc204cd7e35ec603dc2161d6be7','70d1','0','1235108814'
,'1','','','1','0','0','4' )

I looked at the database for SMF and confirmed that the synch was successful so I'm wondering if the variable memberName isn't mapped to the actual field name "member_name" somehow.

I did upgrade SMF from 1.8 to 2.0 today so that may have something to do with it. It's not all that serious because the site isn't up yet and when it goes up it'll be it's public debut, as it were.

Still, I'm curious to know if you have any ideas!

Thanks!

Please ignore the php code in the previous message, I haven't a clue where it came from!

Hi John!
That's most likely happened because you upgraded the forum as our bridge is only compatible with the version 2.0 of smf.

Is there still a problem or everything's ok now?
kind regards!

I wish it was ok. Darn it!

I took out the old SMF install (from Cpanel), reinstalled and tried it again. Exactly the same error message.

Took it out again, reinstalled and tried it with JFusion. Same error message.

Now I'm starting to think the problem lies with SMF 2.0 RC1 My reason for that is that if your software generated the query that updates the SMF membership tables I'd suspect I wouldn't see the precise error message in JFusion as I do with Joomla SMF Bridge.

Incidentally the same messages appear when using the softwares from either a Vista x64 based machine or a Linux based x64 based machine. Just to eliminate that possibility, as well.

That just deepens my suspicion that the query is one generated by SMF 2.0 RC1 than either client software.

As it's a release candidate nothing would stop SMF from updating the release candiate and repackaging "in line" from SVN, as it were.

All in all I'd rather use SMF 2.0 than 1.8 and your software than JFusion because, at the moment, you support CB more explicitly than then JFusion does.

Oh fun!

Hi John!
What version of the bridge do you have installed? What is the name of the archive you download from the members area?
doesn't seem like the latest version.. as the fields in the users database table were modified in the latest ones..

kind regards!

Good morning, Ann.

The file name I downloaded is: smf_bridge_2.0.1_UNZIP_ME_FIRST.zip which appeared to be the latest in the download area.

What has me puzzled is the exact same error from JFusion as I get from your product. Then, at this moment, I'm easily puzzled with too many late nights getting the site up and going!

I hope this helps.
