I have some thousands of multichoice questions in Excel tables. Can I import them directly to question pool (after some pre-processing of course).

Hello,

There's no such a capability by default.

We could offer you our custom development services. If you'd like to implement it, it's necessary to see an Excel table in order to estimate the project.

If you're interested, please write to www.joomplace.com/helpdesk/index.php and send the table and this thread's link.

Regards

After some investigation of data structure, it seems, that such excel table (see attached) can be imported with simple procedure directly in database tables "jos_quiz_t_question" and "jos_quiz_t_choice". All other fields, that is not in excel table can be filled uniformly and afterwards be edited from joomla interface. Is it so, or some other tables also shold be modified?

Hi Michael,

I've submitted the ticket for you, where I give the project estimate. As your private information will be necessary, let's discuss the project there.

Re:Importing questions from Excel 1 year, 3 months ago #13868

I see there are several customers interested in the importing feature, including me.

I dont understand why you are treating this request as a customization, I think you should just add it to your component as a standard feature, that would be a huge improvement that I am sure will being you many more clients.

Also why each client has to pay a separate project yo create the importing feature, isnt is easier to create an standrd procedure that works for everybody? I am just saying...

I am also very interested in this development and I agree that it would be a very useful addition to the program.

Hi,
Yes, it is possible and quite easy:

look, how the database has to be fed and generate SQL-Code with Excel and drop in the Data via phpmyadmin.

Haven't done this with the latest version but I do not think, that this should be an issue - it is just a database you have to put in your question data.

I have to take a look at my old file I did as I am restarting my project soon.
I will share my experiences when done.

Best

the Questions-to-SQL-Generator excel file is almost done - is anyone interested in the result as the initial request is some months ago?

Ladies and Gentleman,
here we go with an excel template that generates SQL Code to feed into the JoomlaQuiz 2.5.2 Question/Answer-Tables (via phpmyadmin e.g.)

Pretty simple: in the first tab enter your questions and answers. You can do multiple choice and multiple answers - just enter the data, the Generator-Tab knows what to do.

Column B (Quizzy) is to categorize the questions, in the end all questions are available in the JoomlaQuiz question pool.

So, you entered your stuff. Login into your database, e.g. via phpmyadmin. Select the database. Choose the SQL-Tab. Copy the SQL-Code from the tab "SQL Questions & Answers" into it and run the query - DONE!

ATTENTION - One Note: I use this template to manage ALL my questions. The TRUNCADE-order empties the questions- and answers-tables within your DB to refill them with the questions and answers from this template!

But in the end it is Excel - if you know how it works you can customize it easily for your purposes.

Have fun!
