TOPIC: URL Field and Language File?

URL Field and Language File? 1 year, 6 months ago #13037

I'm wondering why there is no field for a URL? Most of the other Portfolio components would let you link the thumbnail to the site url. At the very least there needs to be a url field available. There is a FAX field, but no URL, I think that is odd. I thought I could just use the contact text area, but it doesn't let you link to the url.
Also, The language file is nice, but it doesn't let you change tags on the input items, for example, "FAX" or "Technologies" or "Efforts". In addition, they keep the space even if they aren't used, so there is a big gap between.
One last thing, The Email field isn't working correctly. If I put an email in there, then on the front-end I am seeing the Joomla message stating that the email is hidden due to spam bots and that I need to enable javascript. I am not seeing that error in other places within the site that has email addresses.
Thanks for your time
Robyn

Ok, I thought I was going crazy, wondering why I bought this component if it didn't have the fields I needed. come to find out, I'm not crazy.
In the Demo of Joom Portfolio, it is showing the custom fields of Efforts, Contact, Technologies, Website, Email, Platform and Fax. Also, in the front-end display, there is no space showing between the custom fields that you are using: Efforts, Technologies. Your CSS is quite nice showing different color rows.

I am using the same version 1.0.2, but I do not have the Website or Platform fields available to use, and in my frontend display, there are big gaps between the fields I am using. In other words, if I don't use a custom field the space is still showing where it should be. Also, the css appears to be different as the rows do not display in 2 colors.

How can the same version of this app be so different? And why are you showing one version, and selling a different version? I need to have the Website field, but I would like it to be a link to the website (your demo version just displays the link) And it would be nice if the big gaps didn't appear for unused fields. At the very least I would like to have the version that is being shown as the demo, since that is why I paid so much for the component.

Here is the image showing what my version looks like in the backend:

There's the section "Custom Fields Manager" in the component. There you can create all required fields.

The layout isn't ours. All styles are taken from Joomla. So the cause is your template. We could help you, if you send the temporary admin access to your site to support@joomplace.com together with this thread's link.

The version is the same. Only the settings can be different. We could also help you with it if you provide the admin access to your site and FTP access. We need them to check it and help you.

Regards

Thank you, I found the custom field manager, but still there is no "hyperlink" in the dropdown. Only the Email Link. I would like to link to the actual project, which most portfolio's would do.
I understand about the style, however, I do not see how css style would make spaces in unused custom fields. I believe that has to do with this being setup as an html table. And even then, my stylesheet table format isn't being utilized at all, I am assuming because your name of the table class differs from my stylesheet.
Regardless, at least I can modify the names of the custom fields which makes it usable now. I will just delete the unused custom fields which will get rid of the spaces. The only thing lacking now is the link to the project website.

Hi Robyn,
We're going to release new version soon, perhaps, next week. There will be URL field.

Re: URL Field and Language File? 1 year, 6 months ago #13158

Today we have released new version of JoomPortfolio - 1.0.3 that contains required functionality: so now using Custom fields manager you can add new kind of field - called URL(Link)

Using this field you'll be available to add URL + URL name.
