TOPIC: Path to updates to short!

Path to updates to short! 5 years, 2 months ago #1619

The \"Path to updates\" is set at 50 characters. The direct path to my update file is larger than that. I can get the text box to resize to whatever I want by editing the admin.versionupdater.html.php file but upon save it won't show anything past the first fifty characters. What is the fix?

If there is none than this component is totally useless to me.

Also, is there any way to automatically add customers to the additional downloads rules when they purchase a downloadable product? Otherwise, I have to go in and manually put in every customers additional download rules and frankly I don't think there is enough time in the day to do all that.

I really had high hopes for this component particularly because I paid good money for it!

Please Help!

Ok, I found a way around it. Just had to put '../updates' instead of /var/www/localhost/whateverserver/longfreakinname/etc.

Had that been somewhere in the help file I could have saved myself 4 hours.

Still have the issue with having to hand jam all the updates to the customer for the additional download rules. If anyone has any ideas I'm all ears.

Hello, Reconada,

We'll add your comment in the next update of VersionUpdater.

Additional download rules are created if the order was done outside VM. So if you don't use VM, then you should do it manually.

Vlad,

Using ../updates works and doesn't work.

It works on the admin side setting up the updates so the list of files are populated in the dropdown box for files but when customer tries to download it he gets a message saying \"The file you requested is inaccessible.\"

Apparently the path to updates must be absolute and look like \"/var/home/secure/updates\". This brings me back to my original problem.

I'm pretty proficeint at coding fixes but I can't seem to find the solution. I know it's just a matter of paramater settings but I can't find it in the code. I'm going to need some guidance here and I need to have this fixed ASAP.

Thanks in advance.
