Well-designed software

We are using Room Booker to book both rooms and audio-visual materials for our school. The teachers have adapted to its use faster than I expected. One of the strong features of this software is that I can have some resource reservations(rooms and equipment) based on periods of the day and others based on time.

Great Tool for Making Quizzes

Just yesterday I bought this tool. And installed it on my site. My impression is that this is a good tool. From what I see the only thing which bothers me a little is Line Powered by JoomPlace and it's not compatible with many third party tools to add video. Still I contacted support and they gave me a list of compatible tools to add videos too, both free and paid. I like the questions type choice and the possibility to make them free and paid. The main thing is that I needed a Joomla! 1.6 tool with rich functionality and this is definitely it.

A Workable Solution

Collaboration with clients and partners is an integral part of my daily job. I use Skype to facilitate one-on-one collaboration, whenever possible. I needed a secure and easy method of holding virtual meetings with up to 30 people. I looked at various web conferencing solutions (Open Source and Proprietary). Fortunately, I ran across Live Conference when I was on the JoomPlace website updating another of their useful components. I tried their demo and liked what I saw. I chose to use one of the top Flash Media Server (FMS) providers versus using one of my existing web hosts. The Live Conference setup was easy and very straight forward. The included instructions, on their admin console, was very helpful in clearing up any syntax (configuration) issues. I am very pleased with this component. This configuration allowed me to dedicate adequate resources to the FMS solution versus trying to do everything on one platform.

Nice cross-selling tool

I'm a freelance website developer and have been using Joomla! to build client websites since 2006. So far I am using Customers Who Bought... extension on 2 VirtueMart websites. Installation and configuration of the component and module is quick and easy, with just a bit of tweaking the settings to see what displays best with your template's module position. Since the module display is Javascript-generated, I had one issue with the module borders collapsing to a narrow horizontal strip behind the CWB display. I think this depends on the template used. I managed to fix it by adding CSS overflow:hidden; to a class that wrapped around the module. Firebug browser plugin helps to locate the right place to put it. I especially like the ability to manually add products to the module display - what they call unreal analysis. This comes in handy with new products that haven't sold much yet, and it's a much nicer display than the default VirtueMart Related Products feature. I'm dumping Related Products and moving them all to the CWB module.

A Truly Amazing Product

As a public school teacher, I cannot fully put into words how wonderful this product is. It has revolutionized my classroom and the way my students are assessed and learn. A few of the many wonderful attributes: - Easy to use. - Displays nicely on the website, giving a clean presentation. - Large variety of questions (multiple choice, matching, true false, fill in the blank) - The only tool to have a functional Matching tool that gives partial credit! - Fill in the blank has an auto-grade function. - A great break down option at the end of the quiz, where the students can see their choice in comparison to the correct answer for instant feedback. - A break down of what percent of students choose which answer. Once again, this is a fabulous quiz extention that is only getting better. It is second to none. There are a few tweaks that can be made (in some of their display modules and reports), but these are like critiquing minor brush strokes on a work of art. 5* all the way.
