Permissions
Global permissions for the component could be set in Manage Blogs > JoomBlog Settings section. Individual permissions could be set for each blog and each post.
There are several values that could be applied for permissions:
- Inherited means that the permissions from global configuration, parent group and category will be used.
- Denied means that no matter what the global configuration, parent group or category settings are, the group being edited cannot take this action on this item.
- Allowed means that the group being edited will be able to take this action for this item (but if this is in conflict with the global configuration, parent group or category it will have no impact; a conflict will be indicated by Not Allowed (Locked) under Calculated Settings).
Bloggers
JoomBlog incorporate Joomla! users as bloggers. So be careful when you edit a blogger, because you also edit Joomla! user at the same time.
In bloggers list you will find the number of posts (1) and comments (2) for every blogger.
Blogger options together with standard Joomla! user options (Details, Basic Settings, Assigned User Groups) will provide blogger Profile information.
The following options can be configured there:
- Personal blog title and description
- Avatar
- Personal information (About)
- Birthday date
- Twitter account
- Personal website
Blogs
Administration and moderation of blogs could be carried out via Manage Blogs > Blogs section.
You will be able to set Details (1), Metadata (2) and Permissions (3) for each blog. Also Approval (4) and Published (5) status can be set here. You will need these settings when Auto approve blogs option is disabled.

List of Tags could be accessed from Manage Blogs > Tags section.
There you will be able to edit/delete tags or set them default. Default tags will be automatically added to a new post, when it is created on a front end.
Default tags functional should be enabled in Configuration > JoomBlog Settings.
To enable bloggers creating tags from a dashboard use Allow bloggers to create tags through dashboard option.
top ↑Posts
Posts are the main elements of any blog. Posts could be created and managed in Manage Blogs > Posts section. JoomBlog post joins together categories, blogs, tags and comments.
For every post you should set:
- Blog
- Category (multiple categories could be selected by holding Ctrl button)
- Tags (multiple tags should be separated by comma)
Comments could be added after post is published both by users and administrator.

Comments options could be configured in Configuration > JoomBlog Settings section. The following options are available:
- Use comments (1) turns on/off commenting of posts.
- Use moderate comments (2) enables/disables pre-moderation of comments. If enabled, comments won't be published until manual moderation.
- Use captcha (3) inserts a CAPTCHA into comment submit form to reduce SPAM.
- Use captcha for registered users (4) could let registered users post comments without CAPTCHA.
- Notify admin of a new post (5) and Notify author of a new post (6) options enable/disable notification emails for administrator and blog author accordingly when a new comment was submitted.
- Allow only registered users to comment (7) options will restrict commenting to registered site users.
- Maximum number of comments (8) is used for comments pagination. It determine the number of comments per page.
- Integration with Disqus (9) let you replace JoomBlog native commenting system with Disqus comments.
Moderation of comments left via native JoomBlog commenting system is available in Manage Blogs > Comments section of component's back end.
Note: Moderation and above options are alpied only if you use JoomBlog integrated comment system. Otherwise please refer 3rd party for comments administration options.
