top ↑System Requirements
Joomla!
Before you can use JoomBlog, you need latest version of Joomla! installed on your web server. We always recommended you to use the latest version of Joomla!. Please check Joomla! official website to check the most recent updates.
PHP
PHP version 4.3.2 or above is required. JoomBlog has been tested and working with some warning message in PHP 5.3.x.
MySQL
MySQL version 4.1 or above is required.
Minimum Width
To make sure JoomBlog Dashboard displayed correctly, minimum width is 640px wide (English language). It never been tested with other language. But please let JoomBlog use at least 700px of your template section.
top ↑Installing JoomBlog in 7 Easy Steps
- Step 1: Download JoomBlog component from your Members Area.
- Step 2: Open context menu for UNZIP_ME_FIRST archive and choose Extract All...
- Step 3: Choose a directory and click Extract. You will get a list of files containing component, modules and plugins.
- Step 4: Select Extension Manager from drop-down menu of the Joomla! Administrator Panel.
- Step 5: Click the Browse button and select JoomBlog installation package file.
- Step 6: Proceed by clicking Upload File & Install.
- Step 7: Installation completed! On the same page you can find useful JoomBlog links and information.
Creating menu item and setting your blog as a home page
Creating a blog based on a Joomla! website you may want to make it open by default when user enters your website home address. Here's the steps how to achieve this:
- Step 1: Select Add new menu item from drop-down menu of the Joomla! Administrator Panel.
- Step 2: Click Select button to choose menu item type.
- Step 3: Select Frontpage menu item type from JoomBlog category.
- Step 4: Enter a Menu Title and click Save & Close.
- Step 5: Set new menu item as a default by clicking star icon in Menu Items list.
- Step 6: Now your home page should display a JoomBlog frontpage.
Installing Sample Data
In order to get started fast we recommend to install sample data:
- Step 1: Select JoomBlog from Components drop-down menu of the Joomla! Administrator Panel.
- Step 2: Click on Sample Data item in right component menu.
- Step 3: Click Yes button when you asked to create demonstration blogs and posts. You could clean them later.
- Step 4: That's it. Sample Data is installed to your JoomBlog component.
- Step 5: Go to Frontpage to see changes.
