On my site, there is a forum, where everyone can register.
The joomla content for the registered users is only for members of a fan-club.

So my question is:

Can I only syncronize some selected users from phpbb to joomla or is it an automatism to open the registered content of joomla to all phpbb users going over the bridge?

And additional question:

If first question is answered in the way that I can determine the users: Can the phpbb-users who aren't synchronized also use the joomla-login to login into phpbb only?

Thanks for the answer.

Hello Tonight,

Thank you for being interested in our components.

In fact, users can be synchronized selectively, however this is strongly not recommended as this will be an incomplete synchronization (passwords will not be synchronized). I'd better advise configuring the bridge in the proper way to have it work correctly.

If the extension is still of interest to you and the other question/further questions need to be answered, let us know, please.

Hi Maria_B!

Thank you for your answer.
This means that the users have two passwords. I think this is okay.
But the Log-In Log-Out on both systems will work also with different passwords?
For your information: I have only Joomla 1.5

Thanks.

Hello,

In fact, it won't work as described.

When user is synchronized manually, say, from Joomla! to forum, an "incomplete" user is created in forum, i.e. his name, e-mail and other data is copied, except the password. Hence, the password field remains empty which prevents user from logging in directly.
When this user logs in in Joomla! the password becomes updated in forum. Only then will user be able to log in in forum directly.

If, for some reason, user passwords will differ in Joomla! and forum, the autologin won't work correctly.

Thanks for the answer. I can live with this password-behaviour, so I bought it. Configuration seems no problem, but I have now a problem in ter function, but I will write ist in an extra topic.
