TOPIC: Obituary ordering on category view

Obituary ordering on category view 5 years 8 months ago #22192

How can I control the ordering of obituaries when on a category view?

Ideally, I'd like them sorted by date of death (ost recent first).

I tried to change the ordering number for the obits in the admin view... the number changed (it did throw an error though), but that doesn't affect the category view.

I read in the forum that the ordering can be set to most recent entered at the top, which will work for now, but how do I do that... I can't find anything under the settings to change that.

Please advise.

Thanks!

-Paul

Hi Paul,

The settings you are looking for is there, but it doesn't work in categories. We'll try to code the component to eliminate this issue.

I'll be back with an update soon.

Thank you for your patience.

Hi Paul,

We've applied the changes to fix the issue. Please proceed to your members area, download the latest archive you see there and install it over the old package. No prior uninstall is needed.

Remember to back up any custom changes you might have made.

Thanks very much! I have the new stuff downloaded and installed, but I'm still not sure where I can set it so that a category view orders by either funeral date or last entered (or actual obituary order)... can you give me some guidance? Do I adjust some setting on the category menu item or in the settings for Memorials?

Thanks

Okay... I think I have it... it's the Show Latest Items first in settings, right?

But now I've hit two problems with the new build...

How do I turn off the "light a candle" button? Maybe it was a CSS thing I'll have to look into...

Also, for the obituary display (coming off of a category list menu item and licking to see a full obituary), the photo does NOT show... it shows in the category list, but only the placeholder shows up when we are looking at the obit... ideas?

Found a post on disabling the candle in CSS so that's good...

Right now, it's just the image not showing and I have no idea why...
